Men’s health

19th October 2023

November is Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month.

Men’s health is a topic that quite often takes a backseat in discussions, but it’s crucial to make it more widely spoken about! Whether you’re in your 20’s, 40’s, 60’s, it’s never too late to start opting healthy habits and making positive changes.

1. Regular Exercise

Engage in physical activity at least 30 minutes a day, recommended five days a week. Be sure to have a mix of cardio, strength training and flexibility workouts – incorporating a balance of all can help improve endurance, build muscle and enhance overall fitness.

2. Balanced Diet

Be sure to maintain a nutritious diet rich in fruits, vegetables, protein and healthy fats. Try to limit processed food and sugary snacks as much as possible – but don’t entirely restrict yourself! Everything is fine in moderation. Don’t forget to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.

3. Manage Stress

Practice stress management techniques such as meditation, deep breathing exercises or engaging in hobbies that help you relax and unwind. Chronic stress can lead to health problems, so try to find healthy ways to cope.

4. Adequate Sleep

Sleep! Try to get enough quality sleep every night. Aim for 7-8 hours of uninterrupted sleep and establish a consistent bedtime routine. Avoid caffeine close to bedtime, and try to limit use of electronic devices before bed.

5. TALK

Talk about your worries, your concerns. Talk about how you’re feeling and anything you’re struggling with. Just keep talking. As the saying goes, a problem shared is a problem halved.

Small changes can lead to significant improvements in your overall health and well-being. Think about your health, prioritize your mental health and make conscious choices that will help you in the future.
