Turkish Baths closure

30th September 2022

We want to reassure people that we are committed to reopening the Turkish Baths as soon as possible and specialist contractors are working hard behind the scenes to resolve the issues so the facility can operate to the highest standards.

In the meantime, visitors to The City Baths can enjoy the rest of our facilities as normal, including our fitness suites and studios, swimming pool, poolside sauna and group exercise class programme.

Through the specialist restoration of The City Baths, we’ve been able to save this incredible building and create a thriving health and wellbeing destination for the people of Newcastle and beyond.

As part of the restoration, the revival of Newcastle’s historic Turkish Baths this summer was an incredibly proud moment for our team. Having been closed to the public for eight long years, the reopening was highly anticipated, and we’ve loved welcoming so many customers, new and old, back to the Baths. However, as you can appreciate with buildings of this age and nature, we were always going to come across challenges.

Over the winter months, we noticed a drop in temperature in our Turkish Baths and while we could continue to offer sessions, we’re committed to delivering the very best experience for our users. With that in mind, we’ve decided to temporarily close the Turkish Baths to allow specialist contractors to undergo essential investigations and works to ensure our Turkish Baths operate to the standard they can and should.

We know how important the Turkish Baths are to you all and we want to reassure you that we’re resolving the issues as quickly as possible and will keep you updated when we have more news. Any memberships affected by this closure will be amended accordingly and we will be in touch via email or phone.

In the meantime, the rest of The City Baths, including our fitness suite and studios, swimming pool and spa, remains open as normal and our team is on hand to answer any questions you may have.
