Mental Health Awareness Week 2025: A Reminder to Reach Out, Move More, and Be Kind
12th–18th May 2025

This week marks Mental Health Awareness Week 2025, a vital campaign that shines a light on the importance of mental wellbeing and encourages all of us to look out for one another. Small steps can make a big difference – and reaching out to someone could change, or even save, a life.

Mental health affects everyone. Whether it’s stress, anxiety, depression, or simply feeling overwhelmed, these challenges often go unseen. It’s important to remember that what we experience on the inside doesn’t always show on the outside – which is why kindness, empathy, and connection matter more than ever.

If you know someone who might be struggling, don’t underestimate the power of a simple message or conversation. Asking, “How are you really feeling?” and giving someone the space to talk can be the lifeline they need. No grand gestures required – just showing you care is a powerful start.

Taking care of your own mental health is just as important, and progress doesn’t have to be big to count. A walk in the fresh air, ten minutes of quiet time, or getting back into a routine – these small acts are all steps forward. Recovery and resilience look different for everyone, and there’s no one-size-fits-all solution.

One proven way to support mental health is through physical activity. Exercise doesn’t just strengthen the body – it helps balance mood, reduce stress, and improve sleep. Whether it’s swimming, walking, dancing, or joining a fitness class, moving your body can be a powerful tool to support your mind.

This Mental Health Awareness Week, let’s keep talking, keep moving, and keep looking out for one another. The little things we do today could make a big difference for someone tomorrow.
