We’re challenging you to make a fitness pledge this year!
Whether it’s to run a marathon, start the Couch to 5k or simply get your step counter up – we want to help you achieve your goal. Committing to a pledge is a great way to start a fitness journey and hold yourself accountable towards achieving your target.

Here’s how you can get started and stick to your Pledge…
CHOOSING YOUR PLEDGE
Firstly, set out what it is you want to achieve with your Pledge and when you want to achieve it by. Fitness goals are the best way to maintain motivation for exercise. Short term goals give you a sense of an immediate target to focus on while long terms goals keep your overall objective in mind – striving for a higher achievement. Make sure you keep in mind your personal capabilities, everybody is different!
SETTING OUT A PLAN
Once you’ve chosen your pledge, you need a plan of how you’re going to get there. Start with smaller, achievable steps initially so that there is more chance that you’ll stick to it and achieve your short-term goals, then gradually increase the effort as time progresses.
Try and keep a step-by-step plan and keep it simple, if you start to make it too complicated and unrealistic, you may not have as much drive and motivation to stick to it.
A POSITIVE MINDSET CAN GO A LONG WAY
It’s important to have belief in your ability, you can achieve what you set your mind to! There may be an occasional backward step, but this is all part of the process. Trust yourself that you can achieve anything you set your mind to.
Try visualising yourself achieving your goal – try writing it down and repeating it out loud to yourself. How do you feel? Positive? Confident? A sense of achievement? Tell yourself you have what it takes to succeed!
Whether it’s a holiday, a wedding or just to feel better in your own skin, think about why you made your Pledge in the first place and use this to fuel the drive towards reaching your goal. Whenever you’re feeling unmotivated, refer back to this thought.
