NEWLY released footage offers the most detailed look so far at the £7.5 million restoration of Newcastle’s much-loved City Baths.

The film takes viewers on a journey through the historic Grade II listed building and explores the brand-new health, fitness and wellbeing facilities on offer.

Fusion Lifestyle, the charity behind the redevelopment, has been working with specialist contractor Createability to sensitively restore the building and the video showcases many original features alongside new modern fixtures and fittings.

The two-minute fly-through brings to life the new health and fitness suite, swimming pool and traditional Turkish baths as well as other areas including changing rooms.

Anthony Cawley, operations director at Fusion Lifestyle said: “This digital fly through brings our whole development to life and shows people exactly what they can expect when our doors reopen.

“We’ve fallen in love with The City Baths and the North East and are proud to be cementing the building’s future for generations to come.”

The CGI film begins with a bird’s-eye view of the building and takes viewer through the doors before walking through the light and open-plan interior.

For fitness enthusiasts, the fly-through gives the first up-close virtual representation of the new studios that will host more than 100 exercise classes every week.

The video also Illustrates how the building’s original award-winning architecture has remained central to the design of the newly renovated leisure destination.

Ian Cotgrave, managing director at Createability said “This has been an incredible project to have been a part of and the end result will be an amazing transformation.

“Works are nearly complete and we’re proud to have had the opportunity to refurbish and restore such an iconic building here in the North East.”
